.... and the news channels are having a hayday.... Do we really recognize the coldness of those statistics? hmmm.... there is a non-zero probability for each of us ending up as one of those numbers....
And as I sit watching the news spewing out of the box, I start thinking.... The following comments are those of a un-civic un-informed cold lay citizen (me). I do not intend this to be part of a blame game but just a few thoughts....
Why is there always a talk about increased security only once an incident occurs? Why not increased security as a way of life?
Intelligence collection might be the best defence [personal opinion]. But how effective are we(India) on that front?
Is "active" defence a better idea that waiting for "incidents" to happen?
Is the politics of religion fuelling the fire?
Is there a "political will" to protect the life of "just-another-citizen"?
Is it proper in criticizing the system -- terrorism is a distributed 'phenomenon' and hence the reduced effectiveness in response. But then what can be done?
Is "terror-marketing" in anyway related to (facilitated by) the likes of "black-money pipelines", local organised crime etc. If so, would the political system dare fight these? [because of 'some' unholy alliances]
When will the political blame game finally start? [I appreciate that 'they' have held off it at least till now]
And then I switch off the T.V, and go on with my life.... for I have thought about it, I have raised the questions, I have expressed my concern... => I have done my part.... hmmm
